Greetings!
Whilst working with SharePoint Online (Office 365 Midsize Business Subscription) and i discovered a few limitations with regards to the Public Site:
- Been unable to customise a List form for a list sitting your public site using InfoPath or Nintex Forms for 365
- Exposing a list form for your public site for users to fill out and saving that data to a list
This then lead me to looking at other options:
Option 1: Custom Apps from the SharePoint App Store
Instructions to achieving this can be found here
Benefits:
- Keeps everything in the Office 365 Public Site- all Submitted data goes into a list (Called Submissions)
- The List/App form can be exposed as an App Part on an Office 365 Web Part Page
- Can change the look and feel of the form with a little bit of CSS
Limitations:
- Cannot change the name of the List/App 😦
- Can only have ONE instance of this List/App available on your 365 Environment 😦
Option 2:
More information on Surveys in Excel hosted online here
Benefits:
- More Flexibility, store data in an Excel Spreadsheet 🙂
- Can build Excel reports in the survey Excel Sheet
Limitations:
- Cannot change the look and feel of the form
- Embedding the form in an iFrame on a web page doesn’t look good 😦
- Mobility: Link to the Survey form only works on Windows Mobile Devices (and takes forever to load) 😦
I hope this is valuable info . Any questions/comments or additional info are welcome 🙂
